Today’s Scripture: John 20:24-29
Thomas is often remembered for one thing: his doubt. In fact, many people know him only by the nickname “Doubting Thomas.” Yet that label tells only part of the story.
Thomas loved Jesus deeply. He had followed Him faithfully, but when the other disciples claimed they had seen the risen Christ, Thomas struggled to believe what seemed impossible. What is remarkable is not Thomas’s doubt. What is remarkable is Jesus’ response.
Jesus did not shame Thomas. He did not reject him or push him away. Instead, He met Thomas right where he was. He invited him to bring his questions, fears, and uncertainty into the light. This reveals something important about the heart of God.
Jesus is not threatened by honest questions. He is not intimidated by sincere struggles. He welcomes people who are willing to bring their doubts to Him rather than allowing those doubts to create distance.
Many people assume faith means never questioning anything. But biblical faith is not the absence of questions. Faith is continuing to pursue Jesus while questions remain unanswered. In fact, some of the deepest spiritual growth happens when we wrestle honestly with God. Questions can become a doorway to deeper trust when they drive us toward Christ instead of away from Him.
If you are carrying doubts today, remember this: Jesus is not asking you to hide them. He is inviting you to bring them to Him. The same Savior who met Thomas still meets people today.
PERSONAL REFLECTION
What questions, fears, or uncertainties have you been carrying? Bring them honestly to God today and trust Him to meet you in the middle of them.
PRAYER
Jesus, thank You that You are not threatened by my honest questions. Just as You met Thomas where he was, meet me in the middle of my doubts. Help me bring my struggles to You instead of letting them pull me away, and lead me into deeper trust.
