Open Hands, Open Heart

Open Hands, Open Heart

October 24, 2026

Today’s Scripture: Proverbs 11:24-25

A clenched fist and an open hand tell two very different stories. A clenched fist says, “This is mine.” An open hand says, “God, it all belongs to You.”

The Christian life is ultimately about learning to live with open hands.

Open hands trust God with resources. Open hands trust God with relationships. Open hands trust God with opportunities, plans, and dreams.

This posture does not come naturally. Our instinct is often to hold tightly because we fear loss, uncertainty, or lack. Yet Jesus continually invites His followers to trust Him more deeply.

The more we recognize God’s ownership, the easier it becomes to release our grip.
Open-handed living is not about losing. It is about freedom.

  • Freedom from fear
  • Freedom from greed
  • Freedom from comparison
  • Freedom from believing that our security depends on what we can control
When we live with open hands, we position ourselves to receive whatever God wants to give and to release whatever He asks us to share.

The generous life is ultimately a reflection of God’s heart.

Everything we have comes from Him. Everything belongs to Him. And everything can be used for His glory.

PERSONAL REFLECTION
What are you holding most tightly right now? Surrender it to God in prayer and ask Him to help you live with open hands and an open heart.

PRAYER
Father, teach me to live with open hands instead of a clenched fist. I confess the things I hold too tightly out of fear and the desire for control. The more I recognize that everything belongs to You, the freer I am to release my grip. Free me from fear, greed, and comparison, and help me trust You with all I have.
