Today’s Scripture: Luke 5:5
Four simple words changed Peter’s life: “Because you say so.” Those words capture the essence of discipleship.
Following Jesus is not primarily about having all the answers. It is about trusting Him enough to obey.
There will always be reasons not to follow through. Fear may tell you to wait. Logic may tell you it won’t work. Experience may tell you not to try again. Circumstances may suggest nothing will change.
Yet faith responds differently. Faith says, “Because you say so.” These words are not blind optimism. They reveal confidence in the character of God.
Peter did not lower the nets because he believed in fishing techniques. He lowered the nets because he trusted Jesus. Every follower of Christ eventually faces moments like this.
Moments when obedience requires surrender. Moments when trust requires action. Moments when God asks us to move forward without knowing the outcome.
The Christian life is built one “yes” at a time. Every act of obedience strengthens our faith. Every step of trust deepens our relationship with God. Every surrendered “yes” creates space for God to work.
The invitation remains the same today as it was for Peter: Trust Him, Follow Him, Obey Him.
Even when you do not fully understand.
PERSONAL REFLECTION
What is your current “Because you say so” moment? Write it down and commit to taking that step this week, trusting God with the results.
PRAYER
Lord, I want my life to be marked by those four simple words: “Because you say so.” When fear, logic, experience, or circumstances tell me not to follow, help me respond with confidence in Your character. Build my faith one “yes” at a time. I choose to trust You, follow You, and obey You, even when I do not fully understand.
